Better than Smuttynose (and inexplicably better when warmer), this is another beer for the IPA/hops lover. I think it has a less extreme hoppiness than Smuttynose, but still too much for my dark beer sensibilities. When forgotten for half an hour and drank when warm, it actually has less of that hoppy bite. The other pro of drinking it warm is that you can feel like a medieval beer snob, and who doesn’t want to do that?
I like the label’s simplicity and it has a nice amber color when poured (which is misleading for how hoppy it becomes). I find this drinkable, but not as enjoyable as other beers. If you are an IPA fanatic it might not be enough for you, but if you enjoy one every now and then, this is probably a good choice.
